Parsix GNU/Linux is a live and installation DVD based on Debian. It aims to provide a ready to use, easy to install, desktop and laptop optimized operating system based on Debian's testing branch and the latest stable release of GNOME desktop environment. It aims for a new release every six months. Extra software is available from the APT repositories. Parsix GNU/Linux 0.76 was released February 7, 2006. Parsix GNU/Linux 8.0r0 (Mumble) was released September 14, 2015. Parsix 8.5r1 (Atticus) was released May 7, 2016. Parsix 8.10r0 was released July 31, 2016. Parsix 8.15 was released February 12, 2017. On May 19, 2017 the project announced that it would shut down 6 months after the release of Debian 9.0 Stretch. Shutdown occured December 15, 2017.
