FIRE was a portable bootable cdrom based distribution with the goal of providing an immediate environment to perform forensic analysis, incident response, data recovery, virus scanning and vulnerability assessment. The initial version (v.0.1.0.5b) was released February 28, 2002. FIRElite v0.2b was released August 19, 2002. FIRE 0.4a was released May 14, 2003. Moved to historical July 30, 2009.
